Once you have an overview of digital marketing for your dental practice and understand easy content marketing, it’s time to look at easy social media marketing strategies for dentists.

What is Social Media Marketing?

Social media marketing is creating and sharing content specifically for social media platforms. The purpose of social media marketing is to promote yourself or your business.

For dentists, leveraging different social media platforms can help to gain visibility and reach potential patients. But don’t forget, social media is all about engagement. Apart from gaining visibility and acquiring new patients, social media can help dentists communicate and interact with patients and potential future patients.

Let’s take a deeper look into why social media marketing is valuable for dentists.

Why Do Dentists Need Social Media Marketing?

As a dentist, social media marketing can benefit you in many different ways. You can reach more patients and potential patients, improve communication, share timely and important information, gain online visibility, and more.

All of these benefits work together to lead to your ultimate goal: growing your dental practice!

Improve Visibility

Millions of people use social media platforms each day! In fact, Facebook has 2.6 billion monthly users, Instagram has 1 billion monthly users, Twitter has 330 million monthly users, and LinkedIn has 260 million monthly users.

That’s a massive number for your potential audience. Of course, you won’t reach every user, but with strategic social media strategies, you can reach potential patients in your area who would be interested in your services.

Build Trust

Did you know there are 16,215 general dental practices in California? With that much choice, you must build trust with your patients, so that choosing your dental office is an easy decision.

Sharing stories, information, and behind-the-scenes views, as well as being easily accessible, will help you build trust in your dental practice. In turn, this will encourage patients to book appointments with you and feel comfortable with your expertise.

Educate Your Patients

Education goes hand-in-hand with building trust. Sharing important and educational information will help your parents view you as a trustworthy and expert source of information on dentistry.

Depending on the social media platform, you can educate your audience with images, videos, or articles. Sharing helpful and valuable educational information will improve your social media and build trust with your followers.

Cost-Effective Marketing

If you don’t have a large digital marketing budget, social media is a great choice. Social media accounts are free, so you can create and post content as frequently as you’d like at no charge.

However, social media strategies can be quite time-consuming. Suppose you want to maximize your social media outreach and get a great return on investment for your time. In that case, you may want to consider outsourcing to an experienced digital marketing agency

Social Media Platforms

There are many social media platforms to choose from, so how do you know where you should be active? A solid social media strategy involves choosing more than one platform and creating content for each one.

Let’s get into the best social media platforms for dentists, and what kind of content you should post on each one.

Facebook Post Ideas For Dentists

As we discussed, Facebook currently has the biggest audience of any social media platform. The massive audience base makes it one of the best social media marketing platforms available.

On Facebook, you can share a variety of content to target more than one demographic. Ideas for Facebook content include:

  • Photos of your team
  • Pictures of dental work your practice has performed
  • Videos about your dental practice
  • Information or instructive videos
  • Articles or blogs that discuss the services you provide

All social media platforms have ideal times to post. This is when most users are active and gives you the best chance at a high engagement.

For Facebook, the best times to post are 8 am to 3 pm from Tuesday to Thursday.

Twitter and Social Media Marketing

Twitter is a hugely popular social media platform that focuses on timely information sharing. Twitter limits its post to 280 characters. This limits what you can post and makes it an excellent platform for timely information updates.

Ideas for Twitter content include:

  • Photos of dental work your practice has performed
  • Links to articles or blogs that discuss the services you provide
  • Updates about hour changes, policy changes, and holidays
  • Retweets of dental-related information

Twitter has a good range of engagement time. The best time to post on Twitter is 8 am to 4 pm on weekdays.

Instagram Social Media Marketing

Instagram is a photo-sharing platform that should be an important part of your social media strategy. This is because, as a dentist, many of your services can be shown in photos.

Posting Instagram stories is also a great way to engage with your followers daily, without having to create a whole new Instagram post each day.

Ideas for Instagram content include:

  • Behind the scenes photos
  • Photos of dental work you’ve done
  • Pictures of your team and your workspace
  • Informational videos, IGTV videos, and reels
  • Instagram stories with daily updates or behind the scenes glimpses

The best engagement times on Instagram are Monday through Friday, 9 am to 4 pm

Dentist LinkedIn Ideas

LinkedIn is quite different from platforms like Facebook and Instagram. On this platform, the audience base primarily includes professionals. This is a great platform to engage with other dental and medical professionals in your field.

Ideas for LinkedIn content include:

  • Professional updates and achievements
  • Reshares of relevant articles
  • Blogs or articles you have written

Wednesdays from 8 am to 10 am are ideal for posting on LinkedIn.

How Often Should I Post on Social Media?

There is some debate on how often you should post on your social media platforms. You don’t want to post too often, or people will unfollow you for clogging up their feed. However, you don’t want to post too infrequently, or you won’t grow your audience and, therefore, your dental practice.

You should be posting a minimum of once a week and a maximum of once a day on all platforms. The best posting schedule is a consistent one, so set yourself a realistic posting schedule and stick to it.

That might mean you Tweet once a day on weekdays, post on Instagram on Wednesdays and Fridays, post on LinkedIn on Mondays, and post on Facebook Tuesdays and Thursdays. Just make sure to be consistent.
